Home made Skinny Girl Margarita's (I am by no means skinny, festively plump in fact - but a girl can dream!)
Mr B, of Course ;o)
The Spot Bot - wowzers, this thing is goooooood!! and it seems to have lowered Mr B's blood pressure as stains on the carpet seem to stress him out more than words can describe....funny that, because I never even see them!! ;o)
Litter Robot - oh my goodness, every cat owner should have one!! I managed to pick one up locally secondhand for a bit of a steal (prayers are answered you know!) and it is quite simply amazing. No more smell, no more fuss, just happy cat and happy mama!
Summer Holidays - No more getting up and dressed early, buses to catch, morning stress - just nice relaxed laid back mornings with a big dose of sun - perfect :o)
Growing Veggies - I am amazed that so far, I have not managed to kill of any veggies. This may have something to do with Maddy taking ownership of the veggie patch and watering it every day (ahem)
Crusha TV ad - with thick English accent, do you know how many times I have heard this at the hands of my children (who love the part with the cow)
and whilst we are on the YouTube subject, I have got to post these favourites of Maddy and Josh too - Cats singing Joy Joy Joy and have heard this FAAAAARRRRR too many times - Peanut Butter Jelly Time
New Radio Station which plays all the songs I loved from my college days. Many a time have the kiddies both looked at me highly embarrased after I have busted out Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer. But my favourite song recently has got to be this blast from the past.
I am not a naturally tidy person, creativity and the flurry of ideas and activities that come from that usually mean I leave a trail of mess behind me. Mr B is the opposite - everything has a place and deviation from that item being in that place is a big annoyance (perhaps a little OCD??)
It amuses me greatly when Mr B points out cleaning solutions to me, that I either have no interest in cleaning - or no knowledge that they are even dirty!! Such as:
Mr B: 'Now we have the spot bot, you can clean the carpets in your car'
Me: 'What?! why would I do that....?'
Mr B looks at me bemused
Me: 'are they even dirty?.......' thought already disappeared from my head and I am back to focusing on more important things like that new fabric that just came in the mail...oh the posiibilities...
Over the years we have both changed a little and grown more like each other. However, I am still a world away from being Ms OCD Clean Freak.
I have never wanted my kids to grow up in a house that was like a museum, full of things that they couldn't touch. I want them to be able to play and then help me to tidy up at the end of the day. However, I have not been very pro-active in getting the kiddies to help me, so last saturday when I walked through my house in the morning, it was like I was seeing things through the eyes of my husband!! and I suddenly felt a little overwhelmed at the clean-up task in hand.
You can get a glimpse of my house in this state in this short video, that was made on Thursday night when we were hit with severe thunderstorms. (please be warned though, I have the most annoying laugh in the world and I do seem to laught alot in this clip!!)
I came up with a solution - a solution that only a really mean Mommy would use to motivate her children to help tidy - I picked up every toy that was on the floor and put it in a trash bag. 3.5 trash bags later, I gave the trash bags to my kids and told them the donation truck was coming on monday morning and anything that was:
a: still in the trash bag
b: back on the floor or
c: not tidied away
Would be donated !!
The desired amount of motivation was delievered and over the course of the weekend they sorted out their toys, and gave 1 bag of toys to be donated.
So now the kiddies are home from school and in the house alot more, I have a feeling I will need to keep on top of this a little more - I will be channeling my 'inner Jason' for this ongoing task!
Does her little face look familiar...like you may have seen it somewhere before??....well thats because Miss Jasmine's sister is a superstar in Hollywood and is starring as Carlos the Cat in the new movie - Marmaduke! How fun is that!! We have pussy-cat movie star connections ;o)
A prime piece of real estate has been claimed - it comes with great views of the gardens and all squirrel and bird activity. Pride of place next to mama's computer, so a close eye can be kept on the coming and goings of the hand that feeds (and strokes and snuggles!) and best of all, the three levels make it nice and roomy for when you just need to really stretch out.
About a month ago, I saw this photo and my heart skipped a beat:
All I knew was that his name was Rudi, he was a 12 week old cream-point Birman kitten from Kvell Birmans and I was smitten - completely smitten :o)
Rudi will be joining our family on May 30th
I am already giddy with excitement and the countdown has begun
I have a feeling he is going to be one spoiled kitty :o)
Stuff to share from the last few days:
The is a battle being waged in this house:
Me Vs The Ants
I am losing, and it is soooo irritating!!
With Mr B being away for a little while - I have had to face the reality that I have to undertake all those jobs that he usually takes care of - like remembering to put out the trash/recycling and mowing the lawns (to name but a few) Growing up I was always told by my Dad that I was NOT allowed to mow the lawn (had something to do with me being extremely clumsy) and on the one occasion he let me, I was made to wear steel toecapped boots!! I have rested safe in this rule for the last 10 years of my relationship/marriage with Jason. However, I don't think that reason would wash with the home owners association of our neighbouhood, I think I need to buy some steel toecapped boots...
Spring has definetly sprung in our corner of Oklahoma and the morning alarm calls to the wail of tornado sirens have started...not the best way to start your day, but I guess there are worse!
Miss Daisy Dukes found her forever home and left us this week. I cried and shook whilst handing her over - and I am sure her new owner thought I was a bit mental.
We have a new addition coming to be a part of our family at the end of May - you can see a picky now, but this little guy really deserves his own post...tomorrow!
I need some love right now - long week, more illness, more emergency clinic visits (this time for two of mama's fingers) still no hubby...I need some love and a big hug - and I have noticed that I have been getting more and more lovely comments from new people - so please, please leave a comment today and say hello - so that I can come and see your little space on the web and stop by and say hello too...that would make me smile - lots :o)
PS Doll orders have been delayed a few days because of the manky fingers - as soon as the meds kick in and they start feeling like they are part of my body again, dollies will be finished up and on their way to you! so sorry for the delay
And here is a picture of Miss Jasmine in her new mama-made bed a la vintage suitcase - because well, you can't have a blog post without a picture - right?
