I started painting the playroom last week, the kiddies were in a 'Moms day out' and I needed to head home to stay close to Izzie, so it seemed like a good and useful project to start. I had planned on spending some time in the summer renovating the master bedroom, but the realization that both my babies will be in school full time from August, I figured that it would be better for me to focus on that later and concentrate on projects over the summer that will directly impact us as a family, such as renovating the playroom and setting up an eating area for us outside.
So I started moving furniture and toys in the playroom ready for painting...which then prompted me to start sorting out toys, which then prompted me to start sorting out stuff for a garage sale. And then on Saturday morning we had a garage sale and anything left was boxed up and is now sat outside waiting to be picked up by the donation truck....and it feels good.
And now I can go back to painting the playroom :o)
Mr B took me on a hot date on Saturday night, hot, not only because he is hot, but also because It must have been close to 100 degrees. I thought my makeup was going to melt from my face. We spent an hour wandering around some million dollar mansions, part of the Parade of Homes.
It was great being nosy, seeing houses with their own wine cellars and theaters and bigger bathrooms and closets than anyone could ever use. Getting ideas for how we would like to renovate the master bathroom in the future. And then leaving those big houses with their big $6-8,000 mortgage payments per month and feeling good about our moderate house that is perfect for our family now and when we have two teenagers in the future.
We then went to the Cheesecake Factory and had the yummiest of dinners. Sans cheesecake because of the post holiday paunch that still needs addressing!
I love that we laughed all evening, I love that I got to spend one on one time with my husband again (I was very spoiled with spending time with him during the cruise and have been missing his company with his loooong work hours) I love that we venture out earlier now and feel confident to leave the kids with babysitter whilst they are still awake (if they are getting paid, they may as well get paid to wear them out right?!)
