Maddy wanted an art project to do yesterday - but expressed that she did not want to draw or paint and so the collage project was born.
We dug out our (rather vast) collection of old birthday cards, photos, scrapbook paper, card, paper cutters and modge podge and got to work.
I have accumulated a stack of photos from the last few years which seemed perfect for this project. Any time I come across a good photo sale (100 prints for $1 kinda sale) I usually do it. Not only does it mean I have plenty of photos on hand in case the kiddies need some for school projects etc It also means I can create cheap and personalized artwork for our walls.
Birthday cards and favourite photos were chosen and then the fun began...
Lots of shuffling and playing with designs happened, before perfection was achieved!
and the business of gluing them down, could begin..
Finished artwork had to be displayed (of course) and the perfect spot in the playroom was chosen..
We also decided to make a wall hanging of the other 3 masterpieces with the help of a hole punch and some ribbon. This could then be hung in the playroom also.
The kids certainly seemed to enjoy the element of using photos of them in an art project and it was nice to get to look through the photos and explain where/why that shot was taken...how old they were etc..
It also felt good to recycle some of the mountain of birthday cards we have accrued! and use them for something pretty...I am all about pretty things!
