After the Christmas decorations came down and the novelty of having a clean empty house had worn off - I got the itch to add something seasonal again....and the Valentine Wookie Wreath was born. I snapped a photo of it when it was done and sent it to a friend - it was then that we both agreed it looks like something that Mrs Wookie would display in her house for Valentines.
All of the fabrics were from the clearance section at JoAnns and had an additional 50% off their already discounted price. I got a yard each of the tulle's and half a yard of the rest. That was more than enough.
Each fabric was folded along its length and cut in half and then cut into 3/4" strips.
Each strip was then folded in half and the hoop end was threaded through one level of the wreath wire. The ends of the strip were pulled through the hoop to secure it. You could also achieve the same effect with a double knot, but this method is much less time consuming.
The wreath form was a medium sized wire form in the floral section of JoAnns and cost around $2.50 (or $1.25 with a coupon!)
Stage one: Brown Tulle
Stage Two: Pink Batik
Stage Four: Pale pink tulle with velvet hearts
Stage Five: Pink/white striped fabric
Stage Six: Brown checked fabric
Stage Seven: Pink tulle
Stage Eight: Pink fabric with brown swirls
Stage Nine: Brown batik
The felt heart was added last to make it even more kitch-y!
Although it was originally intended for the front door...I think i'm gonna keep this one inside, its too shaggy and cute to brave the freezing Oklahoma temperatures right now anyways!
