Easter came, after a week of crazy!
Miss Bessie - Our Easter Bunny!
Crazy that started last Sunday night when Bessie and I got up at 3am and noticed a drip...drip...drip.
It turned out the drip was not in fact coming from the kitchen tap (which in my half-asleep state I had trouble processing!) but it was coming from the playroom ceiling.
Upon waking the man of the house, who leaped into action like a semi-naked ninja - we discovered the hot water tank, situated above the playroom upstairs - had in fact leaked...great.
The next hour was consumed with draining the tank, trying to catch the water, now pouring from the ceiling and ignoring Bessie - who still needed to go outside and relieve herself!
In the midst of using a mini-vax to suck the water out of the carpet, a stench hit both Jay and I...Miss Bessie could evidently hold on no longer!! Looking back, it was some light relief in the middle of a stressful situation!!
The next morning, the insurance company sent us a wonderful team of men (from ServePro) who took down sections of the ceiling, peeled back carpet, cut up carpet pad and set a pack of industrial fans in each affected area, to try and dry everything out.
The culprit! The hot water tank!
Over the next week, fans blew 24/7. Children moved into the spare room to get out of flooded bedrooms and life was generally topsy turvy.
12 days on we are still in the midst of getting our house back together. Still waiting on insurance quotes to get the ceiling fixed and carpets replaced.
But the fans have gone and there is a new water tank - both huge blessings!
And we celebrated Easter, surrounded by friends, making wonderful memories..
Memories that helped us re-focus and remember that even though we are far away from home, far away from family - we have good, sweet friends who stepped up and helped us.
Friends that make us feel like we are family.
And that is huge.
