Miss Bessie has been with us for a few months now.
The scared, frightened puppy mill dog she was when she got here, is now fading fast.
She has got confidence and now defends 'her home' by rushing to the front door and barking at anyone who dares enter!
She falls asleep anywhere and not just within the safety of her crate.
She tolerates the other species in the house...
Even when they take over her bed!
She tolerates having matching nail varnish on special occasions!
and getting dressed up at times...
She tolerates being tucked up in a quilt as she sleeps...
and despite our 'no dogs on the bed' rule...her little sad squishy face looking up at us, is too much to bear and invariably she gets to come up and snuggle.
She snores - very loudly at times and also has times when she makes funny little squeaking noises in her sleep.
She has terrible gas...pretty much constantly!
She taps her back right foot when she poops! Its the strangest thing!
She only ever drinks in three gulps at a time...gulp, gulp, gulp....pause....gulp, gulp, gulp
She won't eat at her bowl - she picks each piece of kibble out, walks to a different location, eat it and then returns!
She digs for worms and eats them - I'm wondering if this was a way she got to eat extra when she was at the puppy mill.
If there are no worms, she will choose certain plants/grasses to eat.
When we take her out in public and its noisy - she shakes from head to toe.
She has bad allergies and is on 4 different medications a day.
She is about 70% blind but does great in the house as long as we don't move the furniture.
All in all she is doing amazing!
And we all love her so much!
